Margot Verhulst was recently granted a FWO PhD Fellowship for fundamental research. She will examine intergenerational social mobility in Europe from a gendered perspective and investigate the complex and interacting associations between the class positions of mothers, fathers, daughters, and sons. Anton Neronov joined our team as a PhD researcher on two projects led by Tuba Bircan: the EU-funded MIRREM project and the FWO-funded SBO project From Camp to Campus. His work will focus on the nexus of irregular migration and policies within the framework of the socio-economic integration of skilled immigrants.
Iris Egea Quijada recently started her PhD FWO project Sustainable Rural Communities: Comparing migrant receptivity and the revitalisation of two rural towns in Spain and Ireland. In her research Iris, supervised by Lena Imeraj and René Kreichauf, will critically explore the link between international migration in declining European rural areas and rural revival from a sustainable community.
At the end of 2023, Yuxin Pu started her PhD in the framework of the MSCA DN project GreenNexUS. Yuxin's interdisciplinary research, supervised by Francesc Baró, is be affiliated with Geography (Cosmopolis and CGIS) and Sociology/BRISPO as well. The PhD project NATURE4ALL: Inclusive Urban Natures for the Resilient and Healthy City focuses on the synergy between health- and safety-driven green urban design, for an innovative perspective of the urban realms of the future.
