Research objectives
HumMingBird is a Horizon 2020 funded project that aims to improve understanding of changing nature of migration flows and the drivers of migration, by analysing patterns, motivations and new geographies, forecasting emerging and future trends. It adopts a mixed-methods approach to identify the uncertainties and reappraise, to explore the reasons why migration predictions may not hold, to demonstrate non-traditional data sources for migration research including various types of big data and study qualitative scenarios by listening to the migrants.
