The rapid adoption of AI by both public and private actors as a companion to the ever-increasing availability of data brings along several questions for the future evolution of democracies. Civic-AI’s major goal is to assist re-invigoration and modernisation of democratic governance by elaborating thon e potential of AI and big data: to reinforce fundamental rights and European values, to develop innovative uses of AI and big data for enhancing citizen engagement and democracy, to safeguard fundamental rights and European values from possible threats stemming from unregulated use of artificial intelligence (AI) and big data applications.
