Correspondence tests are considered by scientists to be the gold standard for objectively measuring discriminatory behaviour in the labour market. In its advice to the Flemish government, the Central Expert Committee also considered this technique to be the best instrument to measure discrimination. However, it did point out that in the case of correspondence tests with the Flemish Government as an employer, a number of additional technical hurdles have to be taken, inherent to the highly developed and often multi-stage selection procedure and the relatively smaller number of vacancies in the Flemish Government.
