Last week the Belgian Hoge Raad voor de Justitie published the results of the 5th edition of the Justitiebarometer, a national survey since 2002 on how the Belgian population thinks about the justice system.
BRISPO members Maarten Hermans and Elias Herman Kruithof were involved in adding the dimension of social class inequality to the Justitiebarometer, and providing academic support for the launch of the Justitiebarometer.
This addition of social class inequality came after recent strong public debates and protests on the issue of "social class justice", following high-profile court cases such as Reuzegom. Maarten and Elias have written previously about how these public reactions reflect the high level of social class polarisation in attitudes towards the justice system (De Standaard , De Juristenkrant).
