Tulya Su Guven
Biography
Before starting my PhD journey at VUB, I completed my Bachelor's degree in Sociology at Bogazici University, Turkey, and my Master's degree in Social and Cultural Anthropology at KU Leuven. My academic interests include urban studies, migration, mobility, cultural heritage and visual culture, with a strong emphasis on transdisciplinary approaches in the social sciences.
Within BRISPO, I am working in the Interface Demography (ID) research unit to develop a large-scale migrant survey. Through my research, I am interested in exploring the social networks, integration and placemaking experiences of newcomers.
In addition to my academic background, I have gained experience in a variety of fields, ranging from social media management and event coordination to various volunteer roles in organisations working with youth and migrants. I am also passionate about digital and analogue photography and believe in the power of sharing food to bring people together.
