2013-2016
The project as described here is the preliminary study of a larger set-up aimed at the development of a Belgian data archive in social and human sciences. As an independent part of a broader project, the objectives must also be framed within that larger whole.
In social and human sciences, it is essential to organize the sharing and reuse of empirical data efficiently. Empirical data, collected through specifically designed surveys or derived from administrative files, form the raw material for modern social research. The sharing and re-use of data is not only cost-effective, but also allows innovative research by scaling up, creating more possibilities for historical and comparative research and by the possibility to re-analyze data with new insights and new techniques.
