We are happy to announce that Pieter-Paul Verhaeghe has been awarded the highly prestigious ERC Consolidator Grant! This achievement will enable him to investigate the "class-race nexus" at the macro-level, analyzing how countries differ in the extent to which life opportunities are shaped by ethno-racial and socio-economic backgrounds.
For the next five years, Pieter-Paul will lead the MARIS project (A Multidimensional Analysis of Racism and Social Immobility at the Societal Level), which examines the intersection of racism and social immobility across different countries and time periods. The project will take an interdisciplinary approach, integrating insights from sociology, social psychology, economics, history, and political science. By exploring various indicators of both racism and social immobility, the project aims to uncover how these phenomena evolve over time and their connections to policies and economic conditions.
