Lobke Van Ryckeghem
Biography
I obtained my master's degree in sociology from the University of Antwerp (2023), writing my thesis on the experience of water poverty in Flanders. In the same year, I started working as a teaching assistant and doctoral student at Vrije Universiteit Brussel. Here, I assist the course 'Sociology 1' and teach the course 'Working Lecture in Sociology'. In addition, my PhD is qualitative in nature and deals with the male experience of infertility and fertility treatment, with a special focus on ethnic minorities, low-income classes and those at this intersection.
My academic interests lie within the field of (sexual) health sociology, cultural sociology, and environmental sociology. I am also deeply fascinated by science communication, which I strive to pursue through my article series 'De Sociodialoog' in collaboration with Stampmedia.
