
The 2025 edition of the BRISPO lecture series: Tuba Bircan (VUB) | Beyond the Hype: What Can and Cannot Do AI for Social Research
Tuba is a research professor at BRISPO, VUB. She holds BSc and MSc degrees in statistics and a PhD degree in social and political sciences from Catholic University of Leuven. Her scholarly interests cover a wide range from migration, inequalities, public perception and attitudes, ethical and trustworthy AI, use and governance of Big Data and AI for global challenges to new methodologies, social and public policies. She has substantial experience in quantitative and mixed research methods and empirical evidence-based policy-making. She has served as an external expert and reviewer for several international funding institutes and as a reviewer for many international journals.
