Biography
I work as a postdoctoral researcher at Sciensano (Health information Service) and Vrije Universiteit Brussel (BRISPO). VUB has played a pivotal role in my educational development, as I obtained my Bachelor's, Master's and doctoral degree in Sociology there. My doctoral dissertation explored health and mortality risks for a large number of occupations, including asbestos workers, cleaners and teachers. As a postdoc researcher, I gained experienced in labor force mobility studies and research data infrastructures. In 2021, I started working on the HELICON project which aims to unravel the long-term and indirect health impact of the COVID-19 crisis in Belgium. My current research aims to understand social inequalities with regard to COVID-19 testing, infection, hospitalization and mortality. My research interests cover a wide range of topics related to social inequities in health and mortality, as well as the Belgian health data landscape.
