A three-year Horizon 2020 research project launched in January 2015 aims to increase knowledge and resources on policies that have the potential to promote health and health equity across European regions with a focus on metropolitan areas. Euro-Healthy has eight research work packages and is formed by a consortium of collaborating partner institutions. To provide a framework for the integration of socio-economic, environmental, health care and health outcome data between 2000 and 2015, across European regions (NUTS 2) and nine metropolitan areas so as to create a harmonized European and longitudinal database that may integrate the Population Health Index (PHI).
