2026 | Flemish Funding
This study maps and analyses the landscape of initiatives at the intersection of culture, wellbeing, and health in Flanders. Building on the growing evidence of the positive impact of cultural participation on individual and societal wellbeing, the research aims to provide a comprehensive overview of existing practices, their characteristics, and the needs and challenges they face.
The study combines a field analysis with a qualitative, participatory research approach, including document analysis, interviews, surveys, and focus groups. Furthermore, it examines the role of culture across different levels of the care continuum, from low-threshold support and prevention (primary care) to targeted therapeutic interventions (tertiary care).
In addition, the research investigates initiatives related to social prescriptions (arts on prescription) and develops forward-looking scenarios for policy instruments, such as funding mechanisms and networking platforms, to support cross-sector collaboration and scaling.
By integrating insights from diverse stakeholders, the study aims to contribute to sustainable policy development and strengthen the structural integration of culture within wellbeing and health.
