2026-2027 | West-Flanders Province
In Flanders, provinces coordinate spatial planning, develop provincial plans and support municipalities in shaping local spatial policies. Since 2011, West Flanders has reviewed its planning every five years through scientific studies examining how demographic change affects housing needs across the province and its regional housing markets.
CYCLIC 2026 produces updated population projections and household simulations to estimate future housing demand and trends. Regular updates are essential as households become smaller, single-person households increase, and family structures and living arrangements evolve. New housing models also seek to combine space, privacy and affordability in innovative ways.
Now in its third edition, the project combines these changes with demographic projections to provide a sound scientific basis for spatial planning and housing policy up to 2036.
