🎉 Congratulations to Terhi Kangas, Sara-Lynn Milis, Katrien Vanthomme, and Hadewijch Vandenheede! Their review article “The social determinants of health-related quality of life among people with chronic disease: a systematic literature review” was among the 5 most-cited papers published in 2025 in Quality of Life Research.
The study examines how social determinants of health - such as income, education, and social support- affect the health-related quality of life of people with chronic diseases. It found that younger individuals, men, those with higher education and income, strong social support, married status, and urban living generally report better health-related quality of life. Education and income emerged as the strongest predictors, highlighting the importance of policies that support people with lower education and income.
