Sabina Imatova
Biography
With an academic background in International Relations and Political Science, I have always been fascinated by how politics shapes society and vice versa. This curiosity led me to pursue a PhD at the Brussels Institute for Social and Population Studies at VUB. Before starting my doctoral journey, I obtained a Master’s degree in Political Science from the University of Antwerp and gained research experience through internships in both academia and the NGO sector.
As a Junior Researcher at AIMS Lab, I work on the De-Conspirator project, where I research the societal impact of foreign information manipulation and interference (FIMI) in the European context. My PhD research specifically examines the impact of disinformation on the political behaviour of highly educated individuals within Belgian native and diaspora populations.
My academic interests and expertise include disinformation, international security, and Russian politics. I strive to conduct challenging yet meaningful research and believe in positively contributing to society through academia.
Research Keywords: disinformation, FIMI, diaspora, international security, Russian politics, mixed-methods research
