
Martina Otavova
Biography
Martina Otavova is a postdoctoral researcher at the Center for Demographic Research (DEMO) at the Catholic University of Louvain (UCLouvain). She holds a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies with minors in Psychology and Health Sciences from the University of Central Florida and a Master of Science in Statistics, specializing in Epidemiology and Public Health Methodology, from Hasselt University.
In 2024, Martina earned a dual PhD in Political and Social Sciences with a focus on Demography from UCLouvain and in Statistics from Hasselt University, Belgium. Her doctoral research explored multiple deprivation and health inequalities in Belgium since the 1990s, examining disparities in various health outcomes across socioeconomic groups.
Martina’s broader research interests include lifespan inequalities, social determinants of health, and innovative approaches to population projections.
