Maria Paula Gonzalez
Biography
I completed my second Master’s degree in European Integration at the Brussels School of Governance, VUB, with a specialisation in EU Immigration Policies, Diversity Policies, and European External Relations and Security Policy. I also hold a Master’s in sustainable urban development from the Autonomous University of Madrid. My professional experience includes my work as a policy officer and project manager in Bogotá, where I led community projects focused on citizen participation and peacebuilding.
My research centres on labour market integration, migration policies, and gender, particularly focusing on highly skilled migrant women in Flanders. I apply qualitative methods and adopt an intersectional approach to explore these issues. My academic interests also encompass (ethnic/racial) inequality, community cohesion, and postcolonial studies.
Outside of academia, I am passionate about regenerative agriculture, aligning my interests with sustainability. I also enjoy exploring new cultures through cooking, honing my language skills, and spending time in nature through various outdoor activities.
