
Erdem Yilmaz
Biography
Dr. Erdem Yılmaz is a postdoctoral research fellow at the Inequality and Racism Unit of BRISPO. During his senior year, he decided to quit his mechanical engineering studies at the Middle East Technical University (Turkey) to pursue his interest in philosophy. This decision led him to Belgium, where he obtained a BA and MA in philosophy from KU Leuven. Following his philosophy studies, he spent a year studying film at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts (KASK) in Ghent before returning to Leuven to complete an MSc in educational studies. In April 2024, he earned a PhD in social and cultural psychology from KU Leuven. His research interests include self and identity, SES, achievement gaps, acculturation, and historical materialism.
