Elief Vandevenne
Biography
I am a PhD researcher investigating job quality in the Belgian platform economy, supported by an FWO fellowship. My research focuses on understanding how job quality should be conceptualised and measured in our rapidly changing labour market, shaped by digitalisation and flexibilisation. I am particularly interested in exploring the relationship between job quality and the mental well-being of workers.
In my research, I employ a comprehensive approach, using both quantitative and qualitative research methods. This involves analysing primary survey data collected from Belgian platform workers, conducting in-depth qualitative interviews with them, and integrating digital ethnographic data into my study.
My research primarily focuses on on-location platform work, such as food delivery couriers, babysitters, and nannies. Through my work, I hope to offer valuable insights into the dynamics of contemporary employment arrangements and their implications for the overall well-being of workers.
